I began my modeling career in 1952 with some of the early wood kits. I grew up riding the CB&Q rails with my grandfather. The station in St. Joseph was a second home for me. I was repairing locomotives and custom painting for a hobby shop in Columbia, Mo in 1974. In November of that year the hobby shop went out of business owing me money. The only way I was to recoup my loss was to buy the hobby shop stock from the bank. This was the start of Bob's Engine House. As I started as a modeler I have kept my focus to being a modeler first and a businessman second. My goal is to offer top quality merchandise and service while making a reasonable profit. I have now retired from working for the Associated Electric Power Plant at Thomas Hill, Mo and will devote the majority of my time working on my model railroad business.
