Beverly L Dittmer
Director and Teacher
Beverly L. Dittmer serves as the Director / Teacher of Zion Lutheran Preschool. She has been with the program since the fall of 1985 when she was a volunteer aide. She was then hired as the Director / Teacher in the fall of 1990.
Since 1990, many
changes have taken place at Zion Preschool.
First, staff training has been implemented to include CPR, first aid,
lice, and prevention of child abuse.
Most training is offered thru our local health department. Seven years ago, a Kinder Prep Program for
the months of June and July was added for five year olds to help them prepare
for Kindergarten. And just this fall we
were able to add a fourth class (three – four year olds) to the preschool
program due to increased enrollment size.
Bev has taken
several early child development classes at MACC and attended Lutheran Educators
Conferences to enhance the academic quality of the preschool program here at
Zion. She is also very involved in
church and related activities including teaching Sunday School, organizing a
new church group called “Girls’ Night Out” for church and preschool ladies, she
is active in Thrivent Financial (formerly AAL) which includes activities and
fundraisers for our own church groups as well as benevolent projects, and has
taught Vacation Bible School in several different capacities since 195.
On a personal
note, Bev is married to Larry Dittmer, who serves as a functional unit manager
at the Moberly Correctional Center.
They have two college – age children.
Joey Renee is a senior at Missouri Valley College in Marshall and will
graduate in May 2004. Jerry Lee is a
sophomore at William Jewell College in Liberty. Bev enjoys bowling and being with her family.
